About Geni Lintang

The name Geni Lintang means fire and star. Its philosophy, karone padha madhangi jagad, both together lighting up the world. A space for sharing knowledge to care for the earth and all it holds, together.

Who this space is for

Geni Lintang is a space for practitioners, researchers, lecturers, students, activists, artists, policymakers, the wider public, and anyone who works on or thinks about the connections between food, environment, local knowledge, livelihoods, and policy. Those who believe that human health and the earth cannot be separated.

Here, field experience and cross-disciplinary thinking are shared openly, in the belief that knowledge grows most fully when it is tended together.

About the author

The writing here grows out of more than twenty years of fieldwork and research at the intersection of development, ecology, and society, across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Published without a personal name, by choice. What we want to share is the ideas, not the persona. Geni Lintang is a shared space, not a stage for one person.
